Photographs of anarchists:

Documentary:
Portraits:
The portrait image above appeals to me more than the documentary images, simply because I personally find the idea of anarchistic protests quite stereotypical. I want to find something more original to focus on simply for personal creativity.
Ideas for anarchism:
Anarchism in fashion:
I have started by looking at typically anarchistic punk and goth fashion, using 'tumblr.com'. Although this is still quite an obvious idea, it could lead to inspiration for more ideas.
Although perhaps rebellious during the 1970's, punk style fashion is much more mainstream these days. Studs, animal print, leather and intentionally ripped clothes are seen across the high-street, whilst it becomes increasingly difficult to find someone who doesn't have dramatically bright unnatural hair or dreadlocks. It seems to be becoming ever difficult to look unique or be rebellious with fashion and personal appearance. Therefore photographing someone dressed in such a style or focusing on the idea of anarchist fashion at all is not something which interests me for this brief. Though it may be interesting to look at at another time as it interests me on a personal level.
Student:
Another idea for consideration is that of student life. With students being mainly made up of the next generation, many hold strong political values and attend protests and such. There is also the idea of student life itself, which is stereotypicaly very different to the adult/family lifestyle. .
Students in protest:
I stated that the idea of protests didn't interest me, however I feel that students in protest is much more considered and is a theme closer to home so could hold more potential. However, there is not much going on in the way of student protests at the moment in time, in Salford at least, and on such a small time scale I do not think this is something I will be looking into.

Stemming from both the ideas of students and punk fashion, the theme of drugs/alcoholism comes to mind. Where punk fashion has become accepted, the use of drugs and the typical punk lifestyle has become much more taboo. There is also a stereotype of students who have issues with alcohol and drugs. I do not want to endorse drug use in any way, and therefore will have to be careful in how I execute this idea.
If I chose to do a straight forward portrait image, I would use someone older who has bad experience with drug use. I have people in mind who I could use, however do not think that I can get in contact with them in this time space. Therefore I will look into alternate ways to portray drug use rather than using simple portraiture.

The majority of images on tumblr related to drug use seem positive and endorsing. I am unsure of how I would go about photographing such a subject without the use of an older, drug worn model. Therefore, I am inspired to take the route of student life.
The stereotype of alcoholism and drug use within student life is one which I an personally disconnected from, I therefore wish to portray this point best I can. I wish to question the assumptions that people make about students, yet in a subtle manner. Whilst also portraying anarchism by going against the stereotype of students.
